1535nm Er Glass Laser as Laser Illumination for operating with a SWIR Camera
It’s a unique possibility to cooperate with a European company that is developing a radar that is supposed to be used in the automobile industry.
Requirements
- The microlaser will be operated in non-Q-Switch (free-running mode);
- The beam divergence is not important (it will be managed at the system level by an external telescope);
- 0.5mJ/ 10µs-5ms free running/ 100Hz/ 1.54µm / -35℃ to +50℃ operating;
- Temperatures/Lifetime (output energy reduction to 80% of the initial value) 400M shots;
- The lasing time (10µs-5ms) starts from the laser pulse appearance;

Testing Data
Serial # | Demo 1 | Demo 2 | ||
Single Pulse Energy/mJ | Pulse Delay Time/ms | Single Pulse Energy/mJ | Pulse Delay Time/ms | |
Room T | 2.05 | 0.48 | 2.106 | 0.34 |
+65℃ | 1.28 | 0.64 | 1.31 | 0.6 |
-40℃ | 1.96 | 0.3 | 1.82 | 0.32 |
Notes
- The above testing data are under 10A/2ms pumping conditions;
- At room temperature, Demo samples working repetition rate could be 80-85Hz safely;
- If considering High and Low-temperature environment conditions, below 70Hz is safe;
Customer Comment
It is good enough to start with micro-laser free-running operation at room temperature getting 2mJ at 70Hz.Thank you very much for the test data. It looks very good in spite of energy reduction at high temperatures.
